Mega Market Place

Mega MarketplaceCreative Impact will be sending representatives to the Mega Marketplace at the Cocoa Civic Center this year. It is a powerful marketing event that is really best described as speed dating for networkers. It is an intense day of networking where you personally meet with and have brief meetings with over 100 other business people from across Brevard County. It is very exciting and we can not wait for tomorrow.

Connections are the life blood of any business and networking is one of the most powerful ways to build those connections. You can not sell your service or spread your branding without making connections with other business people or potential clients.

See you at the Mega Marketplace!

Your Web Presence is a Gateway

A powerful internet presence can get your company in front of your client in places you personally could never go. A powerful web presence can impress, surprise, sell to, inform, or even humor a potential client or patron right in their very own office or even better… living room. They are comfortable and safe. They are browsing at their own will and looking for information. Now is the time to impress them. Now is the time to sell them.

When one of your potential clients or patrons heads to the massive world that is the internet to look up your business or perhaps just look up your industry… will they find you? And if they do find you, will they be impressed? Will they find the information they are looking for? Will they take the next step and contact you or visit your office/store?

“In a world where your web presence is a gateway directly into your client’s office or living room, we help you make a powerful impact with that web presence. A Website is your businesses personal identity on the internet. Your web presence. So if you have a business, but don’t have a website, we can help you get a powerful and custom internet presence.”

This is where we step in to help. We offer our clients free consultation to see just what they need. Perhaps they need a more impacting and impressive design for their website, better content and structure, or an easier user navigation. Or perhaps they need to be ranked higher in the search engine results such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Whatever it is, we can sit down and give them our advice.

A website today really helps to establish who you are and helps build trust. It is your online office or store location. It represents you and many times is the first impression anyone will get of you and your company.

So… does your internet presence draw your potential clients in? Does it impress them? Does it move them to act? If not… give us a call

A Dislike Button Finally Arrives

So it appears that someone finally went out and created their own “dislike” button. After all of the petitions and begging from the Facebook community, someone decided to take it upon themselves to go ahead and create this universal “dislike” button. Code for this button can be added to any website. Check out more information in the Mashable article below.

I’m not sure why anyone in their right mind would actually go to the trouble of adding a dislike button to their website, but I am sure we will find amazingly useful applications for this new social media button!

What is web hosting?

We get done building a fantastic website for a client, complete with Flash banner, custom graphics, and some high end programming with database management… now what? We put it live. But what exactly does that mean?

Well, when we put a website on the internet, we have to put it somewhere. The images and other files have to actually be stored somewhere. That is where web hosting comes in. It is the space on a large computer ( called a server) where all of your website files are stored. This server runs many different programs and applications to keep your website running smoothly.

If your website can be likened to your house, then web hosting is like the real estate you build your house on. It’s the empty land.

Web hosting is “rented” on a monthly or yearly basis and is required for any website to be available on the internet.

“Great, so it’s just space… so then any web hosting will do then, right?!”

Unfortunately it is not that easy. Shopping for web hosting can be very difficult as many factors have to be taken into consideration… such as:

  • What is the price?
  • Does the server have good up-time?
  • What features does it have?
  • What programs is it running?
  • What programming languages does it support?
  • How up to date are the programs on the server?
  • What kind of statistical information is available?
  • Does it support email? If so, is it an extra charge?
  • How reliable is the email system?
  • What kind of support do I get? Is the company local?

Our hosting services are priced competitively for the quality product we provide. All of our hosting accounts receive unlimited storage space, unlimited email accounts, up to date servers and programs, 99% up-time guaranteed (our server has never gone down), supports all the major programming languages, full analytical and statistical information, and so much more! We are also a local company that is right here for our clients.

We do our very best to make having a website as easy and painless as possible for our clients, which is why we provide web hosting services. This allows our clients to have all of their web needs with just one company. This keeps everything very simple and easy to manage.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We are here to help!

Google is now Topeka!?

Topeka is Google

That’s right! According to Google’s official page, they have changed their name to honor the city of Topeka.

Tope-wha?! Topeka was the city who renamed themselves Google in an attempt to entice Google to put their experimental ultra-high-speed broadband project, in their city. And so Google has renamed themselves as Topeka… despite all of the branding damage this will cause them!

“We didn’t reach this decision lightly; after all, we had a fair amount of brand equity tied up in our old name. But the more we surfed around (the former) Topeka’s municipal website, the more kinship we felt with this fine city at the edge of the Great Plains.”

Ok… ok… so it’s a big April fools, joke. But we sure thought it was funny!

What is a domain name?

creative-impact-domain-sign-small

A domain name is your website’s address on the internet. Every website needs one.

example: www.creativeimpactwebdesign.com

You will note that the above example domain is the domain name for the Creative Impact Web Design website. When this domain name is typed in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc), your browser sends a request out to find where the website (and all of its files) are being hosted. It is essentially pointing visitors to the website itself.

Every website needs to have a domain name before it can go live online.

When choosing a domain name for your website, keep in mind several things:

  • What domain should you choose?
  • It should suggest the nature of your business or organization.
  • It should serve as a strong trademark and be catchy if possible as it will become a large part of your branding.
  • It should be easily remembered. Be careful of long domain names or hard to remember acronyms.
  • Remember that a long domain name means a long email address too.
  • It should be easy to spell and you should avoid double letters such as “creativeexam.com”. Notice how the double “e” can be hard to read?
  • It should pass the phone test. This being, can you easily and successfully convey to someone, via the phone, the address?
  • It may not contain special characters save for the hyphen (-)
  • I recommend avoiding hyphens as it is hard for a potential visitor to remember them.
  • What about “.com”, “.net”, or “.org”?
  • I recommend obtaining the “.com” for your domain name as it is generally more easily remembered and is generally the first one users will try.
  • If your website is a non-profit organization a “.org” name is acceptable and in many cases expected.
  • “.net” is acceptable, however not as desired as the “.com”. It is usually a good compromise if you can not get the “.com”.
  • The risk of using other TLD’s (Top Level Domains) besides “.com” is always that the user may actually try to type “.com” and get a competitor.

All of this being said, you will also need to choose a company to purchase your domain name with. There are plenty of companies out there such as Network Solutions, however we also provide domain name registration services and will take care of all of the behind-the-scenes work and issues as well as ensuring the name is renewed so it never expires unexpectedly on you.

Domain names are typically priced per year and the pricing is always better if you purchase more years in advance.
